Injury Prevention / Sports Enhancement

Conditioning for athletics is no longer just about "pumping iron" but more importantly having the knowledge of knowing what exercises to do, how to do them it and what areas to target for your particular sport. If you want to play like a pro, you need to train like a pro.

Did you ever wonder why some athletes have abilities greater than your own. Why can some players throw a 98 mph fast ball or drive a golf ball 300 yd's, hit a rocket backhand, or kick a screaming shot on goal and never seem have injury problems. Well we have. Yes some of these abilities are genetic God given talents, but more often than not its conditioning and training that make the difference. The science of sports medicine and performance training has escalated tremendously in the past several years. Having rehabilitated and trained thousands of top professional and amateur athletes the sports medicine medical professionals who invented these sport specific exercise regiments understand the science behind preventing injuries and improving performance in ones sport.

Each sport specific training kit was designed to bring years of experience, data and vital exercise information to you in a neatly packaged sport exercise kit. In the past this information was reserved for select individuals, those who were already injured or those actively seeking an expensive personalized training program. The key focus of these kits is to deliver essential strengthening and flexibility exercises for athletes, coaches, parents and teachers that is often overlooked in sport specific training programs. The goal for using these kits is for the user to have a complete program to avoid common injury areas and performance inhibiting weaknesses typically found in athletes playing that particular sport.

Through studying biomechanics and sports science we implement concise defined exercise regiments with unique devices which reduce chance of injury and improve performance.

Example: The Throwing Athlete
The muscles that make up the rotator cuff are the:
Supraspinatus
Infraspinatus
Teres minor
Subscapularis
The rotator cuff helps to rotate and spin the arm around in its socket (Acceleration and De acceleration movements found in throwing activities like baseball and softball. Frequently injuries of the rotator cuff and elbow occur with overuse of the arm during sport activities when the muscles are too weak or lack endurance to support the rotary force required for throwing.

Example: Resisted Simulated throwing with the Dura-Band Baseball

Kevin Orie, Professional Baseball PlayerKevin Orie, Professional Baseball Player

Professional - Kevin Orie, 3rd Basemen for the Chicago Cubs demonstrates a simulated throw.

This simulated throwing exercise provides accurate resistance during the throwing motion for legs, trunk, shoulder and ELBOW.

Patented non-free rotating ball - provides injury prevention for Little leaguers elbow as it strengthens shoulder AND forearm muscles. This patented technology is not found in any other baseball/softball training device on the market. These exercises are also designed to strengthen the rotator cuff, wrist and forearm. These will lead to increased velocity and helping to prevent injury to these crucial areas of arm health

In addition the kit provides handles and attachment strap for other muscle specific rotator cuff, elbow, trunk and lower extremity exercises for enhanced sport specific training.

Many athletes have conditioning programs they follow but often overlook key functional training areas for their specific sport. These sport specific kits are not intended to provide a total conditioning program but rather to serve as an advanced supplement to a solid base strengthening and flexibility program. The goal is to target those key areas prone to sport specific injury and muscle impairment leading to under performance.

What is functional training and why is it so important for injury prevention and performance enhancement?

Many athletes are realizing the importance of sport specific / functional training. Clinicians and trainers know the benefits of functional training in addition to traditional strength training utilizing free weights and machine weights. Simulating a sport specific movement with resistance allows an athlete to replicate the exact movements used in that particular sport, thus working many muscles simultaneously. This is important for a variety of reasons. Not only does it promote strengthening of those specific key muscles used for that sport, but it also trains the nervous system to deliver maximum force output via the muscle at the appropriate time during the movement.

Dura-Band offers progressive load, as opposed to weights which provide isotonic (static load) resistance. Progressive load with Dura-Band allows the user to maximize resistance and muscle sequencing at the proper time in the range of motion.

The above is only a sample of the biomechanical technology and medical expertise which has gone into each and every Dura-Band sports kit. Whether you play Baseball /Softball, Swim, Tennis, Racquetball, Golf, Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer or just Walk for exercise.

There is a Dura-Band Sports Kit that is right for you!!
